A Conversation Between Friends
Tue Oct 29, 2019 9:05 pm
Hey everyone, what’s new in your world? I hope you’re all having a great start to the week.
As the dark nights have drawn in here in the U.K. and the year is slowly but surely on it’s way out, everything is beginning to wind down. I’m feeling much more reflective lately, doing inner work and seeing things from a bigger perspective. I feel this year has been quite a rollercoaster emotionally, with extremes highs and lows. Isn’t that the nature of life? It ebbs and flows as we ebb and flow with it? What I’m trying always to remind myself of is to be present, to be here in the now. I look forward to new opportunities as they unfold on my journey, without rushing, hurrying, or controlling anything that may come my way. If we’re always looking out for what’s on the horizon, we miss out on what’s happening right in front of us.
I know that for many of you, the environment is just as important to you as it is to me, and I believe we can all do our bit. I am joining others and taking a pledge to plant a tree on November 30th. I hope that the goal of one million pledges will be reached - that will be one million trees! Here is the link if you’d like to participate, perhaps you have a similar project in your area that you’d like to share. https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/protecting-trees-and-woods/campaign-with-us/big-climate-fightback/
It’s time we start taking care of Mother Nature, one step at a time. Thanks for listening,
Laurelite

Even here in Italy the evenings get darker and the cold of autumn begins, which takes us towards a winter that is slowly approaching. I agree with you Laurelite, we must enjoy ourselves and live the present without haste, slowly, life must be lived slowly. life has moments high and down, but if we didn't live the moments down we couldn't understand and enjoy the true high moments.
Life is this and we must not think at the future because we lose the present and if the present is beautiful and happy it will become a past that is beautiful to remember.
What a wonderful initiative. We plant trees to change the world. Tomorrow, I will plant a tree for me, one for those who will not be able to plant it, one for those who forget to plant it and one for each person who will come after us. Thanks Laurelite for this news ..... it's nice to think that, in 100 years someone, perhaps, will sit under a tree that we have planted.

Grazie Perseo! You are doing a wonderful thing for our planet I love the Egyptian tomb inscription, bravo.
Happy Halloween/Samhain to everyone! Here I will be carving out a little pumpkin, making Halloween themed cakes and biscuits, burning some sage, and enjoying the atmosphere. If you celebrate Halloween, how are you spending the evening?
“Samhain is a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter or the "darker half" of the year. Traditionally, it is celebrated from 31 October to 1 November, as the Celtic day began and ended at sunset. This is about halfway between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice.“

In Italy there are many traditions and festivals very similar to Halloween, in various regions and in different periods of the year.
It's nice to know that in England the roots of this festival are so ancient and rich in traditions.
One thing that fascinates me is the "gothic" aspect of this period. That fascination of mystery and fears that has inspired so many artists, painters, writers and musicians, especially the English artists of the early 1800s.A few days ago I watched a documentary that talks about this topic and I discovered something really nice. in 1816 Lord Byron, Mary Shelley and Polidori are in a villa in Switzerland and to pass the time begin to joke and to invent stories of fear. that night, Mary Shelley wrote the basics of Frankenstein and Polidori the first vampire story. It's an incredibile story, isn't it?
Celtic tradition is very interesting, thanks for telling us, I didn't know it.
I also wish happy Halloween to those who celebrate it and also to those who do not celebrate it.

Good Morning Zen Denners,I hope that you all are having a fantastic week.
Here in Australia, its another sad Spring day.
.The smoke still hangs in the air, from the bushfires that have been burning out of control for the past few weeks.
There are over 30 separate bushfires still burning out of control at the moment, luckily no human lives have been taken ,but a few houses have been lost further up the coast. Its heartbreaking, to think that these fires were deliberately lit.
The impact on our local Koala population has been devastating.
The fires have engulfed over two thousand hectares of Eucalyptus forest, destroying the Koala corridors, injured Koalas have been taken to the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital.
Unfortunately they have found over 300 koalas that have surrcumb to the fires,
Which is a dramatic loss ,to the breeding population of a already endangered species. On the Mid North coast ,where I live, only a few have been found alive.
(For those who are unaware ,Koalas are territorial, they only eat a certain Eucalyptus leaves, they do not move quickly and can be seen on rare occasions sitting in the fork of a gum tree.they are native to Australia.)
There are volunteers on the ground, searching for any signs of wildlife.
The fires ravaged through the forested areas, the smoke could be seen as far away as Sydney, which is like ,over 1000 kms from where I live.
The intensity of these fires, was driven by the drought that we are currently experiencing.
Firefighters on the ground and water bombers have worked tirelessly to bring ,these fires under control, but the spot fires, are keeping them busy.
I have lived in this area since I was 12yrs old and have never seen such a devastating fire in this region
Usually ,in Spring we have the afternoon thunderstorms, but there is no such relief coming at the moment.
My prayers go out to all of those affected by fires ,it has been nice to hear that people are offering their sparerooms and houses to those who were evacuated from the areas . Hopefully there will be some kind of relief coming,in the form of rain ,for all those in the fire and drought areas.
The drought has been so bad, that farmers are walking away from their farms, that have been in their families for generations, as they can afford to keep their stock.
Sending blessings and lotza love to everyone , who have been affected by this devastation.
Prayering for rain!
Take care Phoenix 68

Phoenix68, thank you so much for spreading awareness on this tragedy. It is heartbreaking and devastating, and to think these fires were deliberately lit? that is very painful news indeed. After reading your post yesterday I felt compelled to help in some in some way. I have been spreading awareness at work and will share the links as you have done, thank you so much for doing so. I adopted a Koala last night through WWF Australia, it is an ongoing monthly donation which goes toward the welfare and treatment of any Koala’s in need and also the following:
- Koala hospitals in southeast Queensland and NSW
- Koala habitat restoration projects in Greater Sydney
- Landholder engagement in habitat protection and restoration
Of course, I would love much more to be able to volunteer and help at the hospital, but I hope that my small contribution from all the way over here can help too.
Thanks again Phoenix68 for sharing with us, I would like to organise a group meditation where we can put out attention on healing this issue. What do you think?

Hi,Zen Denners
Thankyou ,so much for your support and thoughts
I think the meditation is a brilliant idea, I will be adding a special thought, to all of our farmers near and far,who are affected by drought.
It has been a very dry time, for Australia.
Thankyou again to everyone.
It's amazing how much our climate is changing
and the devastating consequences that are appearing!!
Sending light and love to you all .Phoenix68

Good morning everyone, I read with sadness the things that are happening in Australia. One of the saddest things is to see forests, and to burn because of man, and to know that to lose are always the most fragile creatures, animals, to which their dens are destroyed and many times they fail to escape from the flames.
But from this sadness and this tragedy must be born the desire to fight to defend "creation", defend nature and every single creature. Yesterday I read the message and I started thinking about what we can do and I thought about this.
I looked through botanical manuals and treatises to understand how to reproduce eucalyptus plants. it is possible to reproduce the eucalyptus from seed or from cuttings in autumn and spring. Phoenix68, you could create a small space at home to grow the seeds in pots and when the potted plants will be bigger go plant them .... and you could involve friends, relatives and citizens to do the same.
Think if every person in your town could grow and plant a eucalyptus tree, it would be great. at first it may seem difficult or crazy, but surely in your city there will be an association or a group of people who are passionate about botany and gardening and you could ask them for help too(and they will be able to help you and advise you more than me, as regards reproducing eucalyptus plants).
It may seem a difficult thing, but the human being gives the best of himself just in the worst moments and manages to do extraordinary things .... and I am sure you can do it, and when you plant the first eucalyptus tree, you will feel an energy and a powerful and unique emotion.
I hope this simple and humble idea can be useful.
Maybe we can really change things....
I pray for you and I pray that the rain will come to extinguish any fire.
I spread the sites that you recommended...THANK YOU!

Thankyou so much ,for the idea of planting eucalyptus seeds,Although by the time the seeds get to a stage where they have edible leaves could take a while,in about 3 mths new shoots will appear on the trees, but it is the lack of food in the meantime.
I will be going to our local forestry department to see if they have already established saplings that they can plant out in the affected areas. They usually have plants that they use in reforestation programmes that would be perfect.
It has been a extremely devastating to see the damage that the fires have caused.
Thankyou to everyone for your ideas, thoughts ,I will look at getting a group together to growing some seedlings as every little bit helps at the moment,I also believe its a lovely way to bring a community together, so thankyou so much for your inspiration
Take care have a lovely day Phoenix68

Oh Phoenix68 that is fantastic news!!! Wow, just shows how quickly things can turn around when we all set our intentions on the same thing! I am so, so pleased to read this, thank you so much for the update.
Grazie Perseo for the wonderful idea and the research you have done, a great way to preserve the Koala habitat in the long term and to get the community together.
I truly am overjoyed at how quickly the rain came after we learned of such news - more rain on it’s way!!

Hello Zen Denners,Yes it is great news about the rain but we still need a little more for the farmers to benefit from it.I think I will be praying for rain until the dams are full.Thankyou all for your prayers I'm sure the farmers near and far appreciate our thoughts and prayers,
On the bushfire news ,the fires are almost under control thanks to the tiresome effort of the firefighters and help from mother nature.
Have a lovely day, take care Phoenix68.

Hi Zen Denners,We have had some much needed rain fall, in some of the drought affected areas, which was a welcome relief,At Wauchope we received 20 mm overnight ,Its lovely to see the plants looking a bit more rejuvenated. Its a lovely Spring day outside.
News on the fires, with the rain and the efforts of everyone involved the fires have been bought under control, but they are still soaking the affected areas with water as,there are still logs smouldering, they are constantly checking for spot fires.
Where the fires have been contained, there is more than 2000 ha of State forest and National Parks and Wildlife area,if a spot fire gets over the other side of the river this section will go up.Volunteers on the ground are checking for any potential hazards.
But so far ,things as looking good.
In Queensland there are fires out of control, which have sparked from a fire that was deliberately lit by children, the authorities have dealt with them, although because they are minors, they have got off with basically a slap on the wrist.houses have been lost in the Queensland fires, but thankfully no lives have been lost.
About a week ago we had over forty bushfires burning in New South Wales, most have been contained,Overall homes have been lost in some areas but it could have been a lot worse.I thankyou all for your support and thoughts during these tragic times
I am still praying for rain and will continue to do so until the dams of the farmers are full.
Thankyou all again for your concern and prayers
Take care have a beautiful day,Phoenix68

Hello everyone!, Hola a todos!,
After a long absence in this forum I am finally back. There have been many protests in Chile due to the many social injustices we've been facing since the return of the democracy in 1990. The past three weeks have been a complete disaster in many cities of Chile, including the city where I live. I agree with everything but violence, repression and vandalism.
You may wonder, What are these social injustices (problems) you are talking about?, basically: low pensions, a horrible educational system (public schools in Chile are considered the worst, unfortunately) and a public health system where you have to wait years for a surgery. I saw this coming (the protests) since the politicians did nothing about the citizens who elected them.
The wages of deputies, senators and even our president are extremely high compared to the wage of an average citizen, Can you believe that presidents have a lifetime salary?, that's ridiculous!, the main problem is that we voted for them! shame on us!.
I want to stay positive about the matter even though I had to evacuate my faculty a couple of days ago due to the tea gas, every single time I visit the city centre I see how destroyed it is, it is really sad.
On the other hand, I feel pessimistic about the end of this social conflict because there's something you can't change: YEARS OF POOR EDUCATION., a country that doesn't reads, a country with the higher taxes on books, an elitist country where all what matters for everyone is how much money you earn, how expensive is your car, how big is your family... I think that happens in other countries as well as in Chile, it makes me feel pessimistic about humanity.
I can't be 100% positive about what to expect from humanity from what phoenix68 exposed it was happening in Australia. I don't know what I should expect from humanity, it is so disappointing.

Hi Zen Denners,
Thanks Phoenix68 for the update and Sat-Chit-Ananda for informing us of this issue. At times like this when we feel things are out of our control, I try my best to let go of any fear of the situation and envision a positive, peaceful outcome for all. When I fear for humanity and am saddened by what we are shown in the media, I look at this forum and see there are many wonderful people in this world, people who are kind and compassionate, who care for the environment. The more I focus on this, the more goodness I see. Please don’t be disheartened by what is going on my friend, love will win in the end.

I’ve just sent out the newsletter to you all (please also let me know if you’re receiving them) and it seems the emojis used have now been sent out as ‘????’ instead. Rest assured, I was not half asleep when typing it out ha ha ha.
Best wishes,

Hey, Zen Denners,it is with a sad heart, that I bring you this update on the fires.
There are over 90 fires burning out of control,in New South Wales and Queensland.
The lovely Spring days ,have turned to a eerie orange haze,it seems that no matter how hard the firefighters are trying to put these fires out,the more that they are spreading.the efforts to contain the fires have been in vain.Thousand upon Thousands of hectares of forest have gone up in a blaze, the intensity of the fires are causing their own weather systems, the ominous black plumes can be seen from space.
Never in all of my life have I witnessed such devastation, usually we may encounter a few summer fires but this is unprecedented.
Sadly, we have lost a few souls .
Many homes have been destroyed ,with hundreds of people relying in the goodness of others to help them through these difficult times.
At Laurieton near where I reside, hundreds of people were evacuated to the RSL Club, they bought whatever they could carry ,plus their pets.
Luckily they were allowed back to their homes once the danger had past.
As I have written earlier,a lot of homes have been destroyed, but it restores your faith in humanity when you hear, that people are opening up their homes to those who have lost everything.
At Bobin a little town of 450 residents, the town was bought to ashes, schools homes everything destroyed. The residents were evacuated to Wingham about a hours drive south of where I am at Wauchope, the pubs, clubs, motels and residents are opening their hearts and homes to those who have been affected by this disaster.
The Showgrounds have opened their gates,to those who need to get livestock to safety.
On a brighter note,I have contacted the forestry, about the saplings for the Koalas, they have informed me that when it is safe for them to get into the fire strickened areas ,that they will be planting 50,000 eucalyptus saplings.Koalas, don't inhabit all of Australia .Unfortunately we have had a lot of species succumb to the fires. Our firefighters, have been trying to tame these blazes now for a few weeks ,most are exhausted through their efforts to contain these blazes, firefighters from Sydney and other areas have been called in to help. But these blazes are like the Hydra ,they get one under control only to have another more ferocious one appear.
My prayers go out to all those affected,
Blessings to all those who are putting their lives on the line, to fight these infernal blazes.Blessings to all those who are opening their hearts and their homes .
Please pray with me for some much needed rain,we could surely use it.
Sorry to be bringing you such devastating news, but I thought I would keep you up to date.
Thankyou all for your blessings, thoughts and prayers . it is muchly appreciated.
Please ,keep us in your hearts and healing meditations, sending light and love to you all

Good Morning ,Zen Denners.
Lately I have been seeing and reading of tragic circumstances from throughout, the entire world,Protests, erupting from governments, who are not listening to what the people want.Climate change protests, where again the heads of our countries, still are not listening ,they prefer to shove their heads in the sand and pretend that there are no issues.
Like the three monkeys, hear no evil, the authoritive figures, don't believe that there are problems within our world so they dismiss the issue as they are unaware of how to fix the situation,or if they have a clue ,they would rather hoard funds for themselves ,before using the funds to solve the worlds issues.
Hear no Evil, they do not wish to hear the truth about the state of our world, as they have no clue as again they do not listen to the people.
See no Evil, the governments and those in power walk around with blinkers on,not wishing to see what is unfolding in front of them, with there only interest being, that of the how much materialistic stuff that they can collect, foolishly believing that money is power.
The pensions that our elected get paid,is ridiculous,
Here in Australia,we have the same problem as Chile .Our fat cat politicians sit back on their huge tuffets without a thought to anyone else. Our politicians retire on massive lifetime pensions also.
The pay for their service should end when they leave politics,The funds used to keep these fat cats grinning, like the Cheshire felines ,would be better spent, helping the homeless ,feeding the hungry, bringing fresh drinking water to those who are thirsty, caring for the sick and weak, put some of the funds towards our hospitals our roads ,build accommodation for those who have no roof over their heads, bring comfort to those,in need those who don't have a bed to sleep in,or a pillow to put their heads on.There are so many issues that,we are yet to solve,But I firmly believe that although our world seems to be struggling and crumbling before our eyes.
It is the rebirth,a change a new beginning, a second chance if you may ,to get it right.
I believe that the Age of Aquarius is upon us,these tragities that we are experiencing,is to link the like minded,so that, our vibrations will heal the world.
The worlds leaders, retaliate, with violence because that's all their tiny minds can comprehend, but they are in for a shock, when the world rises from the ashes, spreading love to every corner of the globe, where will they hide, when love knocks on their doors?
Like timid mice they will retreat, into there own communities, making way for oceans of love to wash across our world, bringing the power of love,to the foremost position in our societies.Love will rule in our Golden Age,The fat cats will hide and tremble in fear, as" Love,is all we need" .Have a fantastic day sending light love and stacks of healing energy to everyone .

Hello Zen Denners!
I have been busy tweaking, rearranging and adding new features to our forum. The main changes are as follows:
- You will now see we have a chatbox at the top of the homepage - yay! We can use this to see who's online and chat instantly.
- I can announce we now have The Zen Den Gallery! You can find this under the 'Gallery' tab on the homepage. I look forward to building a photo album with you all!
- We have an abundance of topics which have been categorised by the following; Spiritual Discussion, Music, Movies & Media, Paranormal & Supernatural, The Zen Den Studio
- The Book Club is now positioned on the main page with various sub-categories including a place for Creative Writing, which, I'm very excited about and have included sub-categories such as; Writing Projects, Writing Prompts, Poetry - where you can share your own poems, Short Stories - where you can share your short stories, and Writing Exercises!
- We have a Zen Den Studio which is a place to share creative projects, crafts and art. We will also be brainstorming ideas for group art projects for those who would like to participate.
- A Group Meditations page. We can discuss here topics or issues we would like to heal collectively through the power of meditation and positive thinking.
- Something else I'm quite excited about, is the new Zen Den Blog. We now have a blog section where you can all participate and write your own articles!
I hope you all like the new features and find everything easy to navigate. Go have fun!
Love and hugs,
Laurelite

Hi Zen Denners! How are you all?
Just wanted to say hi and ask you, if you’re celebrating Christmas, what are your plans? Do you spend it with family, friends? Do you go away for Christmas? I know it’s not about gifts, but I do love putting some thought into it and getting my friends and loved ones something special. I love the atmosphere at Christmas, it certainly has a good feeling to it and most people seem to be in good spirits. This weekend I’ll be putting up the Christmas decorations and getting really into the festive season. It doesn’t feel like it’s only a few short weeks away, but I’m feeling excited already!
Love and hugs from England,
Laurelite
